The Missouri City Chapter of The Links, Inc. focuses its energies in four program facets: Services to Youth, The Arts, National Trends and Services, and International Trends and Services. These emphases structure the setting of Links’ goals. Considering the community's needs, the Missouri City Chapter designs and produces programs which effectively improve conditions and add value.
Other ActivitiesSoul Food Dinner Dance during the Christmas Holidays. Fund raisers started with annual fashions shows at the Quail Valley Country Club. Our Choice Luncheon 1993: Honored fifteen outstanding women in celebration of our 15 years of community service. The honorees were: Elaine P. Adams, Michelle Barnes, Zinetta A. Burney, Judith Craven, Lillie J. Fontenot, Vanessa D. Gilmore, Jerelyn Gooden, The Reverend Yolande Herron-Palmore, Joann Horton, Audrey H. Lawson, Shelia Jackson Lee, Gabrielle K. McDonald, Lois Moore, Wanda Thornton Mott, Sherea McKenzie Poston. Our Choice Luncheon 1995: Honorees were Faye B. Bryant, Lois W. Bullock, Anita R. Bunkley, Audrey K. Gassama, Lullelia W. Harrison, Pamela M. Jackson, Delores D. Smith, Alvia J. Wardlaw, Carol L. Watson, Patricia H. Williams. Our Choice Luncheon 1996: Honorees were Zarine Boyce, Sylvia Brooks, Laconia Cain, Elisha Campbell-Matthews, Deborah Grotfeldt, Karen Jackson, Janice Character Payne, Nellye Joyce Punch, Anita Smith and Polly Sparks Turner. Our Choice Gala: At Neiman Marcus Town and Country, honorees were Sharon Michael, Judge Hannah Our Choice Fashion Show and Luncheon: The 2003 fashion show luncheon at the home of Anita and Gerald Smith. The honorees for this event were: Charlotte Bryant, Gayla Gardner, Jewel McGowan, Leticia Plummer, Sterling Bank as our corporate honoree and a scholarship was donated to the Linda Lorelle Foundation. Hosted the Fifth Annual Texas Cluster “A Sharper Image for the Year 2000” at the South Shore Harbor Hotel with Link Thelma Rice, the Western Area Director, as the guest speaker. Hosted the 34th Western Area Conference, July 7-10, 1999, “Experience the the Magic of Houston …the Real Texas.” The highlight of the conference was the gala at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. JASA House was the community service project for this conference. |
